3 nights ago I was asked to go to a movie by a person I recognized from highschool but never associated with. I said sure, and told him weekdays weren’t good for me so it would have to be on the weekend. 2days from then it was Tuesday. he asked to go that night. I said I couldn’t because I had work early in the morning and I had to take my daughter to the doctors for presurgical clearance. Then he told me he was driving back down south on Thursday so the weekend wouldn’t work for him. he suggested he just come over to my house with a bottle of wine. I politely declined again stating it wouldn’t be in my best interest. he then decided to say “my evil side is coming out I’m going to hire someone to triangulation your location and break into your house.” I tried to take that with a grain of salt and tell myself it was just a really terrible dark humored joke. so I responded by warning him about “barbed wire and alligator moats”.  he then began sending me selfies on snapchat saying “wine with a pretty girl?” I never responded. the next one said “red or white?”. I responded with a picture of the great guy I’ve been talking to that has rather red hair and captioned it “I have enough red but thanks”. it was clear I didn’t want to hang out. I made it known I was with someone. HE STILL didn’t get the hint. he responded with “white it is” I ignored it. 30 minutes go by. He then texts me saying the name of the community I live in. that weirded me out. THEN he described my road that I live on. After that his “dark humored joke” didn’t sit well with me at all. I told my parents since I live with them. I thought they would be as freaked out as me. They showed an annoyance TOWARDS ME. Then stated I was too polite when declining him…. I’ve never felt so betrayed, scared, and alone. I didn’t know how terrifying the conversation was going to be until AFTER I declined. Women have been killed for politely rejecting guys and aggressively rejecting guys. AND no one gets to determine how we decline. NO IS NO.

Now we just have to get rid of all those persistent-pursuit myths and stories and replace them with happy-to-be-single stories

Tim Molloy’s Strange, Vivid Worlds

New Zealander Tim Molloy crafts strange worlds in his illustrations, comics, and commercial work. Recalling artists like Moebius and Jim Woodring, Molloy's rich, detailed pieces are packed with surreal imagery. The artist’s tight linework makes his dreamlike narratives into vivid jaunts into the unknown.

Constantly baffled how folks routinely confuse political objections to policy with technical procedural objections to its implementation.

I'm baffled at people mistaking the figurative for the literal.
